Ce niveau :
  • This Level Is intended for anyone with an interest in wine. No prior knowledge is required.
  • Students will learn wine and spirit related English vocabulary, and the use of the Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting as developed by the WSET®.
  • Note that fluent written English is required to progress to Level 4 (Diploma).
  • Level 2 knowledge is a prerequisite to progress to Level 3.


  • Tasting technique and the use of the Systematic Approach to Tasting.
  • Viticulture and winemaking: understand the key factors affecting the taste of wine.
  • Understanding wine labels.
  • Main white grape varieties in the world.
  • Main red grape varieties in the world
  • Major producing regions of the world
  • Sparkling wines of the world.
  • Fortified wines in the world.
  • Spirits of the world.


  • Mandatory training of 2.5 days (20 hours) in English held in Mâcon (Davayé).
  • Teaching staff are experienced, UK based, English-speaking professional wine educators.
  • Practice tasting in English according to the Systematic Approach to Tasting developed by the WSET® by sampling approximately 50 wines during the course selected to illustrate key points of the syllabus
  • WSET® provided study pack contains the book "Looking Behind the Label" and a Work Book, which summarizes the key points and provides self-check revision and samples questions.
  • Students should also study the Specification for the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits, See link in sidebar.


  • The Level 2 examination will take place at end of the course.
  • The examination consists of 50 multiple choice questions. 1 hour will be allowed to complete the paper.
  • The examination is available in either English or French.
